This artwork presents a large mysterious object resembling an ancient astrolabe, with components carved out of a blue marble. The mechanism, bewildering in its scale and complexity, seems to have ground to a halt some centuries ago. It has numerous objects embedded in it that could be recognised as a medieval scepter, a miniature football and football stadium, a TV screen showing Eurovision contest winners, a statue head of (apparently) an ancient scientist or philosopher, electronic circuitry and a screen displaying a Nazi gathering. The astrolabe appears to be still turned up to the skies, ready to resume its astronomic observations one day.

This image was created with Krita AI Hires by enhancing, inpainting and otherwise enriching an intermediate version which was rendered on Leonardo.ai in the img2img mode using 's the Phoenix model and upscaled with its Universal Upscaler, to add the extra detail. Shown as the 2nd image in the project batch is the 'fractal' generated in September 2023 with Prompt Hunt that served as the basis for it. The image became a part of the Fractal cameos series which featured artworks of a similar origin.

This image has been included in the recently released by Encore Art AI digital product, a FoldPix set titled "Fractal cameos" (https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/o90oe/fractal-cameos-10-fascinating-detail-rich-screen-art-pieces-foldpix-set-4-samsung-galaxy-z-fold6-edition). Images in the series explore the theme of technological impact on progress of humanity, with a hint of dystopian undercurrent in a number of the artworks. The artistic content of the set draws on my longtime fascination with making fractal images, something that I have been busy with since the mid 1990s: a few of those images served as the structural basis for these new creations.
