The involute canvas - 9 engaging detail-rich screen art pieces, FoldPix Set 5 - Google Pixel Fold edition

  • About the artworks in the set

The involute canvas set of screen art pieces is a part of the FoldPix series of digital art products by Encore Art AI. The artwork images were created in June-July 2025 with Krita AI Diffusion Hires, each as a distant derivative of an old monochrome 'clipart' picture made 2 years prior with the Prompt Hunt AI image generator and its PhChroma 3 model. Despite being of average render quality and limited size, I valued those pictures highly enough to keep around and periodically try to enhance. As a result, not long after, some of them were upscaled and enhanced to become art prints, while others became later on a useful, sometimes inspirational material for a very different sort of artworks, the content of this set.

The approach of using an abstract picture as the structural basis for a new, and a very different version (in general terms, not unlike a sculptor’s method of marble carving) is the unifying feature of the set, hence its title. White the original picture’s basic shape can still be discerned in the derivative image, the range of subjects and styles used varies widely among the artworks of the set, from a mock-cover of a vintage 1950s Time Travel sci-fi magazine to a poster of a 1930s Hollywood crime movie to a convoluted black-and-white collage embedding a hundred or so mini-pictures all making a slightly perverse fun of the characters and scenery of the beloved Alice in Wonderland story.

  • Foldable phone usage

Digital art Images in this set edition are prepared in a painstaking, pixel-precise fashion for viewing on the inner screen of the Google Pixel Fold phone, The images are not intended to be used as a screen wallpaper (although you could use them that way if you like), they are to be actively enjoyed as art pieces, used as invitations to an endless visual discovery. Such is the unique richness of detail in FoldPix creations that, each time you zoom somewhere in an image, you may discover something new, glimpse a nuance not seen before. The condensed perfection of these creations ensures that this magic works all the way up to 3x onscreen magnification!

  • About the FoldPix series

Screen art sets in the FoldPix series feature images of the 5:6 aspect ratio designed for viewing on the inner screen of a foldable phone from a number of manufacturers such as Google and Samsung. Master images in the series are of high resolution (4K and up), each featuring a unique visual idea and exquisitely rich detail. Creating these images involved both cutting edge AI technology and laborious manual editing (also known as inpainting). In the course of preparing this digital product, each image in the set has been individually curated for the ultimate quality of the composition and fine detail not found normally in a typical AI-generated production.

  • The tools used

The main tools used were Krita, an advanced digital art creation and image editing software, and its Krita AI Diffusion Hires extension.

  • Image format and preview options

Images in the set are of the 18540x2208 resolution, served in a highest quality JPEG format. Some of them are available for previewing in the Encore Art AI portfolio feed.

In the creation of the images in The involute canvas set, an older ‘clipart’ picture was used to serve as the structural basis for each of the artworks. Those older, monochrome pictures had been originally made in September 2023 with Prompt Hunt, a lesser-known AI image generator platform, using its PhChroma 3 model. Despite being of average render quality and limited size, I valued those pictures highly enough to keep around and periodically try to enhance. As a result, not long after, some of them were upscaled and enhanced to become art prints (January 2024), others became a useful, sometimes inspirational material for a very different sort of artworks, the content of this set.

In the course of making this set in June-July 2025, the original clipart images were upscaled (some with Leonardo.ai’s Universal Upscaler) and enhanced in multiple stages using Krita AI Diffusion. It was done using the tool’s Refine (img2img) mode and various Stable Diffusion models, along with a range of varying, particularly crafted prompts, which resulted in a rich collection of intermediate versions all having radically new graphic content. Those intermediate versions then became a source for inpainting and composition work in Krita AI done by blending various selected fragments into a coherent artistic whole. In September-November 2025, a number of master images of the set were further enhanced using Krita AI Hires, so as to elevate them to the HyperPixel format and make them into separate large-scale digital products.
